Glendalough

Glendalough

This is an old shot from last year which I'd been thinking about because I relaised that I hadn't processed many of the photos I took on a trip to Glendalough last year.

One of the advantages of digital photography is the fact that you can take a lot of images, often far more than someone using film might normally take, but of course that then becomes a disadvantage as you end up with (in my case) hundreds of images to sift through after even a single day's worth of shooting!

In this case I'd even gone as far as printing the image before I uploaded recently. I like it, although now I want to go back & try it again :)

Actually I did take some B&W 35mm shots down there too, I must scan them...

Kilmainham Gaol

Kilmainham Gaol

I went on another meetDublin outing with fellow flickr users today, this one being a trip to Kilmainham Gaol in Dublin.

This was the scene of the excecutions after the 1916 Easter Rising during which Padraig Pearse, James Connolly & the other leaders of the rising were executed by the British.

It's an important place in terms of Irish History, yet I found it odd to see an entry in the guestbook, written by someone Irish, which said 'less politics, more history'! But for me, it's impossible to have one without the other in a place like this...
