So, on to Limbang, Sarawak. This is where Nicola's mother comes from and we were heading there to see her grandmother and a variety of relations (there are a lot of them!).
Limbang is a border town which is actually in the part of Malaysia which lies between the two separate parts of Brunei. Geting there involved two flights, from KL to Miri and then from Miri to Limbang.
The Limbang river is a busy stretch with a lot of local traffic (they seem to be water taxis) transporting people from the town on one side to the various settlements across the river.
So, arrived in KL 24 hours later than planned. Which was unfortunate as we had a tight schedule ahead of us. This is a nihgt view of the city - unfortunately the Petronas Towers are obscured by other buildings here, but more about them later...
So, a day late but we eventually got away on July 4th and headed for Kuala Lumpur.
This shot was taken from our flight (on a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777) somewhere over either Kazakhstan or Turkenistan, just as we were flying into the night sky.
In order to blog about my recent holiday I need to start at the beginning, which is where Paris comes in. The thing is, the holiday was actually to Malaysia & Singapore!
Due to a combination of weather & technical issues our flight from Dublin was delayed by almost two hours, which meant that we missed our connection at Charles de Gaulle airport and had to spend a night in Paris. Let's face it, if you're going to get stuck anywhere then Paris is the place to be!
So an afternoon was spent in Paris. Not a lot of time to shoot but as it had been four years since my last visit to the French capital I was happy to be there, however briefly.
I had an idea for a group shot with The Sedettes that was based around Helmut Newton's (in)famous 'They're Coming' shot, but without the nudity.
In the end, I'm not sure if it works - obviously it needs the second shot but I can't help thinking it looks a bit 'girl band' as it is now.
The indvidual shots worked out well though :)
